Naveen Patnaik (born 16 October 1946) is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Odisha, a state in eastern India. He is the founder and president of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), a regional political party in Odisha. Patnaik has been serving as the Chief Minister since 2000, making him one of the longest-serving Chief Ministers in the country.

Born into a prominent political family, Naveen Patnaik entered politics after the death of his father, Biju Patnaik, a former Chief Minister of Odisha. He established the BJD in 1997 and quickly rose to prominence, winning the state elections in 2000. Under his leadership, the BJD has consistently secured electoral victories, making it one of the dominant political forces in Odisha.
